A PROPOSAL FOR ARC EN CIEL · APRIL 2026

A partnership for safer medication and a cleaner Lebanon.

Every household has expired medication. dose knows which ones, and when. Together with arc en ciel's existing collection and sterilization infrastructure, we can build the country's first national consumer take-back program for expired drugs.

01 · the problem

Lebanese homes are full of expired medication.

Crisis-era stockpiling, fragmented disposal guidance, and no consumer-facing pipeline mean expired drugs sit, get flushed, or end up in regular trash.

03 · the gap

Hospitals are covered. Homes are not.

covered

hospital waste

  • Predictable volume, single pickup point
  • Existing arc en ciel pipeline
  • Funded by hospitals + municipalities
unaddressed

household expired meds

  • Spread across 1.5M+ homes
  • No way to know what or when
  • Currently flushed or thrown out
04 · meet dose

Lebanon's medication, in one app.

Users scan a label. We extract drug, dose, frequency, and expiry. Reminders, refills, and a shared family view follow.

scan the label

AI reads dose, frequency, and expiry date. Works in English, French, Arabic.

auto schedule

Reminders generated automatically. Day-by-day adherence tracked. Zero spreadsheets.

family view

Caregivers and parents see the same plan. Shared meds, shared adherence, shared safety.

expiry alerts

The bit arc en ciel cares about. We notify the user the moment a drug expires — and offer one-tap take-back.

05 · the data

Every dose user already gives us what you need to know.

per medication, we store
  • drug name + active ingredient
  • form (tablet, syrup, injection)
  • quantity remaining
  • exact expiry date
  • user location (governorate)
  • explicit consent flag for take-back
which means we can answer

→ Which households have expired meds today?

→ How many kg of expired drugs are sitting in Achrafieh this month?

→ Which users opted in to a pickup?

Both teams see the same dashboard, refreshed nightly.

06 · how the integration works

From kitchen drawer to sterilizer, in three steps.

01

alert

dose notifies the user the moment a medication expires or stock won't be finished. One-tap "Hand it over."

02

schedule pickup

We bundle nearby opted-in users by neighborhood and date. Users see a planned drop or pickup window.

03

arc en ciel collects

Existing routes pick up at one of 13 centers — or door to door for clusters. Sterilization continues per protocol.

07 · live impact model

What does the pilot actually look like?

Drag the sliders. The numbers update in real time using a baseline of 0.4 kg expired meds per active household per year.

inputs

Tune the pilot scope.

Set the number of dose users we activate for the pilot, and assume how many kg of expired medication each household releases over 90 days.

  • Real environmental impact

arc en ciel

  • First national consumer pipeline

  • Mission-aligned brand asset
10 · where this goes

From take-back to a circular health marketplace.

The pilot is the first connector. The same channel powers in-app credits, donate-back lanes, and national waste insight.

in-app credits

Users redeem against pharmacy partners. Closes the loop on circular spend.

donate-back lane

Unexpired surplus routed to NGO clinics. Distinct from the take-back pipeline.

national waste insight

Anonymized trends on what drugs Lebanese households actually waste, by class and geography.

11 · why now

Lebanon's pharmacy chain is strained. Households are stockpiling.

drug shortages drove hoarding

Households built deep medicine cabinets during the 2020–2024 import crisis. Most of it is now near or past expiry.

regulatory tailwind

MoPH is actively looking at consumer disposal pathways. arc en ciel is the only credible operator.

the channel finally exists

dose is the first medication app with structured Lebanese household drug data at scale.

12 · the ask

Let's run the pilot together.

We bring the users, the data, and the app. You bring the routes, the sterilizers, and the trust.

this week

Sign a one-page MOU outlining pilot scope and shared metrics.

next 30 days

Joint working sessions on routes, consent flow, and dashboard.

day 60

Soft launch in Beirut. First collection day.
